Founders’ Harvest Dinner

You’re invited to join Sauvie Island Center co-founders Shari Raider and James Beard award-winning chef Cory Schreiber on October 4th for a celebration of fall flavors. The three-course meal is a benefit for the Center’s farm-based education programs. Each year more than half of the children visiting the Sauvie Island Center are only able to participate in the Center’s place-based educational programs through the scholarship program. Funds raised at the event will provide year-round support for farm field trips, Family Days and summer camps.

The three course menu, designed by Cory, will showcase seasonal, locally-sourced ingredients provided courtesy of Sysco, where Cory currently serves as a chef consultant focusing on sustainability. Wine pairings for each course will come from Hyland Estates Winery. Since 1971 this historic vineyard has been producing unique varietals, each with the ultimate expression of terroir. Warm delicata squash and pear salad with radicchio, smoked trout, pepitas, aged cheddar cheese and harrisa sauce, paired with Gewurtztraminer.

Braised county natural beef with corn polenta, orange gremolata and cider cooked turnips and chanterelles, paired with either estate Pinot Noir or Chardonnay

(Vegan option) Roasted baby pumpkin with Bob’s Red Mill farro, corn, chanterelles, kale and crispy parsnip chips, also paired with estate Pinot Noir or Chardonnay

Nancy’s yogurt panna cotta with autumn fruit and ginger compote, shortbread cookie.
