The Sauvie Island Center offers elementary school students a guided exploration of the Sauvie Island Growers farm and the surrounding natural area of Howell Territorial Park. Our small group, hands-on activities include:
- Compost/Soil Investigation and Seed Planting
- Plant Parts Investigation
- Food Web: The interconnectedness of forest and farm food chains
- Seed to Harvest: Students plant, tend and harvest vegetables from their own field, the Grow Lunch Garden
- Pollinator Investigation
Field trips are for students in grades K-5 and are offered to groups of up to 35 students. The cost per trip is $200. Scholarship funds are available for those who qualify. We also offer special programs for both younger and older students.
