Rachel Dummigan, Board Member
I recently joined the board of Sauvie Island Center – this amazing non- profit organization that serves to educate youth about food, farming and the land.
I am a Family Nurse Practitioner who has been working in public health care for 21 years.
As a health care provider who has the opportunity to work with children, adolescents and their families, I see first hand the health effects of not having access or exposure to healthy foods.
I connect with the mission of providing hands on outdoor education, an interactive science lesson where they learn about healthy soils, composting and pollination. I feel strongly about providing kids exposure to the land and organic vegetables to help promote healthy behaviors!
Many of the children who benefit from this program come from high poverty schools in the Portland area. Your donations will help pay for scholarships for field trip fees and transportation.
Thank you for helping to bring this enriching experience to all kids.
Help us grow.
For more than 10 years, the Sauvie Island Center has helped Portland-area children dig into the dirt and learn about food and farming through our educational programs on the Sauvie Island Organics farm and in Metro’s Howell Territorial Park.
Join the Seedling Society – our monthly giving program. Membership is the most efficient way to support our work, putting more of your money directly into farm time for children.
